Abe Lim - Manifesto

Share the summary of this manifesto.

From my time on the ground, hearing the plights of the community, there is a gap that needs to be filled in advocating for the people's needs.

Vote for me as your DUN representative, and I will fight for these in the state assembly.

Putting people first in urban planning and development

Reducing the dependency on cars increases interconnectivity and reduces pollution and carbon footprint. This is achieved, at minimum, by:

  • Making the town walkable and pedestrian-friendly
  • Adding more street lights so that people can walk at night in safety
  • Placing shades for bus stops
This will smoothen last-mile connectivity and therefore make public transport more accessible and viable.

In the event of major projects that affect the residents, I will fight for transparency in its operations. To prevent the way PJD Link was done from repeating itself.

Also, I want to mitigate the risk of unpredictable weather disasters which lead to flash floods, unsafe storms, heat waves, extreme humidity, and others. By fostering urban resilience, we can adapt to climate change and evolving challenges that the community may face.

Ensuring communities are represented by restructuring local governance

I advocate for having elected local councillors instead of them being appointed by the state. This will ensure that your local leaders represent the voice and needs of the residents.

An elected local council will have a vested interest to solve community issues such as:

  • Potholes
  • Sewage issues
  • Maintenance of community halls

If they are appointed as they presently are, these issues may get sidelined as they don’t have to be accountable to the people. Your local councillors will only care about you if they are actually locals. Let’s make this happen.

Caring for the environment holistically

This is my fight to make the world greener and cleaner for yourselves and the next generation. I want to let the community enjoy the weather, public parks, scenery, and your children enjoy the playground without fear of breathing unclean air.

Waste management is also crucial in protecting the land and our health. I seek to improve collection of recyclables, to enable reduction of plastic use, and to empower the zero waste community.

And let’s not forget our furry friends. I support the Trap Neuter Release Manage method to manage the population of stray dogs and cats.

This begins with the first steps in Bandar Utama, to do our part in protecting the health of our planet. This affects everyone, regardless of background, and therefore worth fighting for.
